چکیده

This paper presents a concept for an UHF tag supporting cryptographically strong authentication which is based on the Rabin-Montgomery public key cryptosystem in accordance with the framework of ISO/IEC 29167-1. It uses an easily computable long integer square operation for the public key encryption of a tag ID record. Only a legitimate interrogator who is in possession of the private key can decrypt this message and retrieve the authentic tag ID. A working prototype based on a standard FPGA is shown which demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed cryptographic function.

Backscattering UWB/UHF hybrid solutions for multi-reader multi-tag passive RFID systems

Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology is foreseen as a promising solution to overcome the limits of ultra-high frequency (UHF) techniques toward the development of green radio frequency identification (RFID) systems with low energy consumption and localization capabilities. While UWB techniques have been already employed for active tags, passive tags solutions are more appealing also due to their low...

Secure Symmetric Authentication for RFID Tags

The project ART proposes to enhance passive RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags with cryptographically secure authentication. Starting with a short introduction into common RFID systems with passive tags, we present a motivation why secure authentication with standardized symmetric crypto algorithms for RFID tags is necessary for many applications. We demonstrate vulnerabilities of curre...

A Do-It-All-Cipher for RFID: Design Requirements (Extended Abstract)

Recent years have seen significant progress in the development of lightweight symmetric cryptoprimitives. The main concern of the designers of these primitives has been to minimize the number of gate equivalents (GEs) of the hardware implementation. However, there are numerous additional requirements that are present in real-life RFID systems. We give an overview of requirements emerging or alr...

Improvement of Anti-Collision Performance for the ISO 18000-6 Type B RFID System

This paper proposes a novel method to suppress tag collision in the ISO 18000-6 type B protocol which is one of the standard protocols of UHF RFID systems. The anti-collision performance in terms of the total identification time is improved by reducing the length of bits and the number of transmission commands required for multi-tag identification in the ISO 18000-6 type B protocol. Simulation ...

Algebraic Cryptanalysis and RFID Authentication

The standardization group ISO/IEC SC31/WG7 is working on a set of cryptographic suites to provide security to wireless devices including UHF RFID tags. These cryptographic suites are presented as independent parts to a single standard ISO/IEC 29167. Within this multi-part standard 29167-15 is based around very simple operations and intended to provide tag, interrogator, and mutual authenticatio...
